PANews October 19 news, according to CoinDesk, the team behind Zakura, a new version of Zcash software, published an engineering article proposing to allocate a separate viewing key for each ZEC swap completed through NEAR Intents to defend against the privacy threat posed by future quantum computers. When users swap ZEC for USDC, NEAR Intents will publicly display one of the user's Zcash addresses on the NEAR public chain for refunds. This address carries a public key generated from the viewing key, and future quantum computers may use Shor's algorithm to derive the key and link all of the account's receipt records and memos. Zakura's solution gives each swap its own viewing key, keeps the spending key in the user's main account, and locates refunds through private information retrieval (PIR). The team says wallets based on its open-source library, such as Vizor, can support it within weeks, earlier than the January quantum-resistant payment target set by Zcash developers.
Zakura proposes allocating an independent viewing key for each ZEC cross-chain swap to guard against future quantum computer cracking.
