Polkadot proposes a new strategic direction: focusing on user growth, dotUSD, and product platform development.

PANews October 12 news: Polkadot officially stated that the DOT DAO today submitted a new strategic direction proposal on the OpenGov governance platform, aiming to unify the ecosystem's development direction around core goals such as user growth, dotUSD, and the Polkadot Product Platform. The proposal was put forward by the Polkadot Community Foundation (PCF) and is positioned as strategic guidance rather than a technical specification. If approved, relevant technical teams and executing bodies may still independently decide on specific implementation methods, but all work must remain consistent with the DAO's overall strategic goals.

The proposal suggests that at the current stage Polkadot should prioritize end-user growth rather than metrics such as ecosystem size and total value locked, and that its strategic focus should shift from "competing with other smart contract platforms" to "competing with Web2 and mobile internet products." On the economic infrastructure side, the proposal plans to launch the "dotStables" system, including stable-value derivatives collateralized by DOT as an asset, such as dotUSD. This mechanism is intended to convert user demand for stable-value assets into demand for DOT and to operate in a permissionless manner.

In addition, the Polkadot DAO plans to build the Polkadot Product Platform as a user acquisition and product distribution platform. The platform will no longer be limited to the previous parachain infrastructure model, but will cover more complete application-layer capabilities such as data storage, user interaction, and product services. The proposal also calls for improving Web2-level user experience, including support for freemium models, non-crypto address identifiers, mobile-first design, and broader web access, while requiring the preservation of core Web3 features such as user sovereignty, privacy protection, and login-free experience.
