Musk forwarded Katzenberg’s long article: AI will not disappear, creators should participate in formulating AI application rules

PANews reported on September 23 that Musk forwarded Hollywood producer and DreamWorks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg’s long article on AI and the creative industry on the X platform. Katzenberg said that AI is rapidly changing animation and film and television production. He had previously predicted that a new generation of AI tools could reduce the production time and cost of world-class animation by up to 90% within three years. He believes that AI is currently outstanding in reasoning, evaluation, optimization and pattern recognition, but true creativity still relies on human taste, intuition, empathy and desire for expression. There is still a difference between AI-generated works and human creators actively expressing certain thoughts. Citing the history of technological changes such as talkies and computer animation, Katzenberg said that technological progress will indeed eliminate some old jobs, but it will also expand art forms and creative space.

Citing the history of technological changes such as talkies and computer animation, Katzenberg said that technological progress will indeed eliminate some old jobs, but it will also expand art forms and creative space. He believes that AI will not disappear, and Hollywood needs to shift from resisting AI to participating in formulating its application rules; at the same time, AI developers should cooperate with creators to use their works and ideas on the basis of obtaining authorization, giving signatures, and providing reasonable remuneration. Katzenberg predicts that as AI further reduces the cost and threshold of film and television production, more movies and new narrative forms will appear in the future.
