PANews October 20 news, according to NVIDIA's official press release, NVIDIA used 8,192 GPUs on JUPITER, Europe's first exascale supercomputer at the Jülich Supercomputing Centre in Germany, to complete a simulation of a 104-qubit fault-tolerant quantum processor, which NVIDIA says is the largest complete simulation of its kind to date. This simulation validated "magic state cultivation," one of the mainstream approaches to fault-tolerant quantum computing. NVIDIA says this method requires 90% fewer qubits than previous methods, and related work during the development phase also shortened simulations that originally took weeks to several days. NVIDIA stated that such simulations are expected to shorten the timeline for realizing practical quantum computers by several years.
