The Independent Community Bankers Association (ICBA) sued the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), accusing it of exceeding the authority of the National Banking Act in granting national trust banking licenses to crypto companies and allowing companies to enter the U.S. banking system with lower capital, liquidity, regulatory, and FDIC insurance requirements than community banks. In recent years, the OCC has granted or approved trust banking licenses to crypto companies such as Coinbase, Circle, CryptoCom, World Liberty Financial, and ICBA has previously opposed the stablecoin provisions of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act.
