MSCI may remove Strategy and others from major indexes, and related funds may be forced to sell US$2.8 billion in Strategy shares

Odaily Planet Daily News Bitcoin News posted on the X platform that MSCI is considering setting screening criteria and may remove Strategy, Metaplanet and uranium holding company Yellow Cake from the main index. Bitcoin Policy Institute’s Conner Brown said the basis for screening depends on “operating assets,” but he believed neither U.S. GAAP nor IFRS defined this. JPMorgan estimates that MSCI-linked funds alone may be forced to sell about $2.8 billion in Strategy shares; MSCI is expected to make a decision by Oct. 16.
